Michigan DECA is inviting each chapter to accept the challenge to raise at least $650.00 for MDA. This $650.00 will be enough to send one child to an MDA summer camp. In past years chapters raised more than $102,000. Our goal is to raise at lease $103,000….we can do it with your help.
MDA will assist you every step of the way along your fundraising journey. By participating in this challenge, you’ll be helping to make a concrete difference in the lives of people in your community. Just $650 will send one student to an MDA camp…for a chapter of 30 members, that’s only asking each member to raise $20, for a great cause. Read the letter from MDA below to see what your money can do for students your age (and younger) suffering from Muscular Dystrophy.
All chapters raising more than $200 will be recognized on the Michigan DECA Website and in Spotlight on DECA . Chapters raising $600 or more will be awarded a plaque at the State Conference. Chapters raising $25,000 or more this year will make a Live Check Presentation to Jerry Lewis in Las Vegas , NV.
Chapters can raise their contribution in the manor that best fits their local needs. This could range from a canister drive in your school store to pledge drives. These pledge drives should focus on one of three areas of fundraising, for example, any type of a-thon activity, lock-ins, and super dances. MDA will provide promotional materials, and the MDA office will work closely with the DECA groups providing support in helping to develop a marketing plan for these fundraising events. Please use the "MDA in your community" box below to locate your regional office.
Chapters participating must submit the amount of money raised, to their local MDA Office March 1, 2007. Funds submitted after March 1, will be counted with next year’s campaign.

The time has come again for a year of raising funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association .
As National Sponsors , we have big plans for this year, with a statewide goal of $103,000!
Let me tell you a little story.
There is a girl named Sarah Hettig. She lives in Bridgman , Michigan . She is the MDA State Goodwill Ambassador. She loves to sing in church, enjoys sewing, and helps raise chickens. She believes in helping others and has helped raise money for missionaries at her church. Her speaking ability is awesome and her message is heartfelt. Sarah has FSH (Facio-scapula-humeral) Muscular Dystrophy, a generalized weakness of the muscles in the back, arms, and face. Sarah continues to walk with the use of leg braces. She attended MDA Summer Camp for the first time in 2004, and had a great time.
There is no registration fee for the children at MDA Camp. The campers are sponsored by people like us in order to participate in what is collectively known as the "Best Week of the Year".
We are determined to raise the highest amount of money possible in order to make next years' MDA Camp the best it can possibly be. Many of the children live for this one week at camp.for the other 51 weeks of the year, they are preparing for MDA Camp. By donating money, we are helping more and more campers go to this camp. We are giving more children the opportunity to see that they CAN do anything, and each child is developing friendships that will last a lifetime.
We urge you and your chapter to take part in the statewide fundraising efforts. You have nothing to lose, and will be helping to change a child's life. Raise $25,000 this year, and your chapter will make a Live Check Presentation to Jerry Lewis in Las Vegas , NV !! |
