The Harry A. Applegate/DECA Scholarship is for individuals who are current members of National DECA and are pursuing a two- or four-year course of study in marketing, merchandising or management. The applicant must be received at the Michigan DECA office by February 1. Michigan DECA will select the state's applicants and submit them to National DECA by their deadline. The applicant may select any accredited institution/university offering careers in marketing, management or merchandising. The DECA scholarship is merit based and is not based on financial need. However, if applicant chooses, they may include a statement in support of financial need.

The following items must be included with application:

Application form completed in its entirety
Official transcript of high school and/or post secondary grades
Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or American College Testing (ACT) Program score
DECA participation and accomplishments
Any substantiated evidence of leadership, responsibility and character other than DECA experience
Three (3) letters of recommendation, one from your chapter advisor and two others (e.g., other education professionals, your employer, a community figure)
Any supplemental information that you believe would be useful to the Scholarship Committee
All forms must be signed by your chapter advisor for approval and forwarded to Michigan DECA.
All materials must be received by Michigan DECA no later than February 1.
