Each year, Michigan DECA hosts its annual State Leadership Conference at the Lansing Holiday Inn-South Conference Center where over 700 DECA members, business representatives, and marketing educators from throughout the state meet to develop future leaders in marketing, management and entrepreneurship. This is a great opportunity for students to develop not only their occupational and leadership skills, but also to meet and network with DECA members from throughout the state!
The conference will also include workshops presented by FOCUS Training, a Wisconsin based leadership development company. These workshops will emphasize communication skills, teamwork, innovation, organization and many other skills that will help students become successful business leaders.
Students will also have the opportunity to attend workshops covering a variety of topics including advice on DECA competitions, how to run for a state office, and information about civic consciousness projects.
The DECA State Leadership Conference gives Michigan DECA members the opportunity to meet and network with fellow members, develop leadership and occupational skills, and gain insight on many other DECA activities. It is sure to be one of the year's most exciting Michigan DECA events!

To allow students to fully participate with the leadership activities, business casual attire will be allowed. Khaki (Docker) style pants (no cargo pants) will be appropriate for both males and females. Ladies should have blouses, sweaters, polo-style or collared shirts. Gentlemen should wear sweaters, polo-style, or collared shirts. Denim, t-shirts, hats, and cargo pants are not allowed.
FOCUS Training will present leadership activities to motivate DECA members and to develop teamwork skills. All conference participants will attend a two or four hour leadership development academy, depending on which day they arrive at the conference.
